VRA Cross Country

2017-2018 cross country season has ended.

I am so excited to announce Valley Ridge Academy’s first-ever cross country team! We have about 35 team members grades 6-8. Currently, we are closed for registration. In the spring, we will divert our focus toward track and field distances and events. If any spots open, I will send out more information.

What is Cross Country?
Cross country is competitive distance running. At the middle school level, students race in 3ks (1.86 miles). At the high school level, students race 5ks (3.1 miles).

About Our Team
The team is designed to introduce students to distance running, goal setting, and running competition. We also seek to promote overall physical fitness.  Our team meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00pm to 4:00pm at the PE pavilion.

About the Head Coach
My name is Katie Bohatch. I am a 7th grade language arts teacher at VRA. I coached high school track & field and cross country at Creekside High School in St. Johns County. I was assistant girls’ coach to the 2014 state championship team at Creekside. I have a passion for running and helping young people realize their own potential in running.
